FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Am I able to tune up my RC helicopter? There are exciting opportunities to tune up the design and performance of the helicopter for most models. Upgrading your helicopter can be made at several levels:
Tuning parts are also offered directly by the helicopter manufacturer. Of course, such kits can be ordered in our shop. There are tuning kits of the following brands: Sab Goblin, MSH Protos, Lynx, OXY Heli, Soxos, Mokado, Compass. Tuning parts of other companies also have powerful offers at their fingertips. We recommend taking advice of our experts for the appropriate use of these components. Special requests are welcome and we will certainly find a suitable solution for you. Our range includes brands such as:
| How do you learn best to fly a helicopter?Even professional helicopter pilots consider flying a RC Helicopter as challenging. Important prerequisites are a good understanding of the forcing acting and skill. Using a simulator on your computer can help you to become familiar with the basics of model helicopters. We recommend starting with smaller models and to improve slowly. You can also enquire about a beginner‘ course at a flying school near you. You will get more confident with manoeuvres when improving your flying experience. Should you lose control during your learning process, there are Joker - auxiliary systems which can prevent that your model helicopter has a crash-land hastily. Even good RC pilots often cover their backs with such systems. Horizontal-Stabilisation Rescue function (also named panic-button). We recommend the following systems: | |

We offer quality products and the appropriate service. We consider it part of our ethos. Having almost all our spare parts of our brands on-site, practically allows us to deliver overnight. Each product, which is marked as available, is definitely in house. This means: if you are able to put an item into your shopping basket, it is in stock. Therefore, you always have a clear overview of the availability of spare parts. Should an item not be readily available despite all effort, it will be requested immediately. We also request items that are not part of our standard range at the respective manufacturer. | What kind of products does live-hobby.de offerWe offer professional model making items of which we are truly convinced. The main focus is RC-helicopters, but we also have multicopter and planes in our range. Under the category multicopter, you can also find quadrocopters, which are becoming more and more popular. You can assume that we have tested almost all our products ourselves or that we fly them regularly ourselves. Should you miss a certain item in our range, please ask for the exact reason why we don’t offer it. It is easily possible that we do not offer this item on purpose. High quality is strictly top of our agenda. Products that do not convince us will not be included in our range or will be rejected again. Notwithstanding the above, we can still order you all products of our manufacturers. | |
How do you build a RC helicopterA RC-helicopter consists of miscellaneous components and units which can be assembled in different ways. You can buy components separately or in packages. Of course, there are also kits and already assembled RC-helicopters. Please consider prior to your purchase that the size of the mechanism predefines the size of your helicopter. Additionally, the requirement of electronic components (servo system and systems for the flight stabilisation) conform to the selected mechanism. Using the instruction, the assembly of the helicopter mechanism is not too difficult even for untrained model builders. The subsequent programming is often more elaborate. Here, all electronic components and the mechanism are synchronised. A so-called „BNF-Model“ (Bind’n Fly) is already pre-assembled. However, you must still add the appropriate channel and adjust both components properly. A „RTF-Model“ (Ready to Fly) is pre-assembled and ready to fly, corresponding to its name. Yet, checking the setting and testing the screws is recommended. | My RC helicopter is constantly tipping over. Why?Model helicopters must be tuned meticulously and the systems must be phased appropriately. Please ensure that the wobble plates are in a horizontal position prior to lift-off. Some FBL systems (electronic systems for the flight stabilisation) do not recognise if your helicopter is standing on the ground or flying. This may lead to your helicopter tipping over or circuiting and occurs as follows: The system is checking, if the helicopter is reacting to a control command given as expected. For example, has a roll order been given, yet the expected reaction fails to appear (because the helicopter cannot realise the control command on the ground), the wobble plate will tilt further and further. The system is trying to generate the expected reaction and as a result the helicopter tips over at some point. The solution? It is recommended to lift off the helicopter swiftly after letting the rotor raise. The FBL system is then able to work properly. Usually, newer systems recognise this issue and prevent the turning over independently. Furthermore, incorrect settings on the helicopter or in the transmitter are often causing this issue. Check how and whether the control commands of the transmitter are transmitted. A mechanically improper setting of the wobble plates or a wrong effective direction of the FBL systems can have devastating consequences. |
