The PC-21 A 106 is operated by the Swiss airforce both for basic training and advanced pilot training. The machine's aerodynamic layout is aimed at manoeuvrability and speed, and its flying characteristics and avionics are similar to those of a modern jet trainer. For example, the aileron response is amplified by small hydraulic spoilers which provide the high roll rate of 200°/s.
The model
The PC 21 is a member of the Nano-Racer series, and consists of a painted, one-piece, moulded foam fuselage and wing, reinforced with a carbon fibre spar. The model boasts outstanding flying qualities, and is perfectly 'at home' at high speed and flying aerobatics.
With its robust but lightweight construction the model is fully capable of exploiting its advantages at both ends of the speed spectrum. The set includes a powerful brushless motor with speed controller and three servos, all factory-installed. The rudder is prepared for servo operation, and an optional extra servo can be installed to operate it.
